Time for a new sketchbook. #18 lasted almost exactly three years. I usually go through them a lot faster but the last two years have been mostly writing and research for Raised on Ritalin, and Chicagoland art duties. The bulk of #18 is filled with rough layouts, sketches, and notes for RoR.
My Resumé in Comics. Started this a year or two back and never finished it once I realized how many jobs I’ve had. Though detailing my 9 months as a Laser light show producer/animator would be pretty fun.
Ninja Turtles sketch! with all the TMNT talk online lately, I felt the urge to draw my old friends when I opened up my sketchbook yesterday. I used to draw the Turtles ALL the time. I was BIG into them. even a member of the official fan club. (and no, I am NOT in favor of them potentially being Bay-style aliens. nuh. uh.)
teen dreamin’. I meant to spend some time today working on a short comic but instead got swept up in technical details and character design for a comic I originally wrote in junior high when I was 12 or 13. y’know, one of those sprawling sci-fi epics that sounds cool when you’re a kid but starts to feel dumb when you grow up.
cover for EverMore #1, the comic I drew in college. dated 1996 so it’s 15 years old. dang. I drew one issue of this comic every year of college, so four in total. it was kind of like a mix between The Maxx and Spawn. the main character was The Cape, and he had a sentient cape he knew nothing about.
your favorite Nothing Better characters just hangin’ out. (I’m not totally sure why I made Felix the smoker in this image instead of Katt, but I think it was because I remembered the scene in Vol 2 where he’s rolling himself a cigarette…)
