An Open Letter to eLine Media/WebcomicsNation
hello-
I believe your company is the current owner/party responsible for WebcomicsNation.com/Comicspace/TalkAboutComics.com. as a paying customer of WebcomicsNation’s “advanced” hosting service I have support needs which have gone unfulfilled. nowhere on the WCN, ComicSpace, or TAC websites is there any updated support contact information.
there are support forums for WCN located at TalkAboutComics.com but no one seems to be monitoring them any longer, and hasn’t doesn’t so for some time. as a paying customer of WCN’s “advanced” service, we were provided utility FTP accounts. at some time in the past, that support stopped when your company acquired WCN and all of its resources. I’m wondering what I’m paying for anymore. there has been no active development to the WCN pages/engine in the last three years that I’m aware of - I feel like I’m basically paying for a fancy hosting service. and it’s not worth it. the few people who still check in on the forums are whispering about the end of WCN. I’m not surprised.
direct support for WCN seems to have stopped not long after the announced merger of WCN and ComicSpace and their infusion of capital from your company. when I heard about the merger I was really excited. it sounded like a big more forward and an amazing advancement in the services you’d offer that would allow WCN users to really grow our comics and readership. and almost four years later… nothing.
most disappointing of all has been the lack of communication. based on the comments I see on the WCN support threads and on the new Comicspace site, I’m not alone. announcing a merger and major technology initiative and then remaining largely silent for the next three years is rude and unprofessional, especially to the paying site members. a simple email would have been nice. it feels like we were basically forgotten about and left to die on the vine.
I would love a response, not just to myself, but some kind of public post/announcement to WCN member as a whole. we all want to know what’s going on.
in the meantime I’ll continue looking at alternative hosting options for my comic as it’s pretty apparent that nothing will be happening with WCN anytime soon.
I look forward to hearing from you.
sincerely,
tyler page.
